Asking good questions: a framework to support evaluation

2018-01-10

The framework was developed by the Centre for the Young Brent Foundation and its members. It sets out six questions that will help organisations to understand the impact of their work with and for young people.

The framework is designed to support whole organisations in thinking about their impact with an emphasis on putting learning in to action and improving services. Organisations can use this tool as a compass to guide evaluation, and a checklist of the important areas they need to think about. Following the six questions model, they will be able to explore the key factors in what they do, and the right measures to account for how and to what extent it creates or contributes to change for young people.

The framework aims to help organisations reflect on their approach to evaluation, and explore how to improve it. It also explains why it is not enough just to gather data on one part of provision – participation, for example, or outcomes. Organisations need to build a bigger picture. You can download the framework for free here. If you use it and have any feedback for us – please get in touch with matthew.hill@youthimpact.uk.
