Our Minds, Our Future

The College is working in partnership with Youth Access to support young people to participate in the evaluation of the Our Minds, Our Future programme. Our Minds, Our Future is a programme empowering young people to call for transformational change to the mental health system.

About Youth Access and Our Mind, Our Future

Youth Access are a member organisation who work with advice and counselling networks across the UK, to ensure that young people can get help when they need it. Our Minds, Our Future is a five-year long programme, running from 2019-2024, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and delivered by Youth Access and partner organisations.

Young campaigners from across the UK have united to call for transformational change to the mental health system, so that it puts young people’s needs and rights at the centre. We’re working with Youth Access to involve young people in the evaluation of the project, as well as supporting wider learning with practitioners through Action Learning Sets.

The National Lottery Community Fund has commissioned Youth Access to coordinate a partnership of organisations across the UK, to support the delivery of the Our Minds, Our Future programme.

The programme is set out across five different stages, with one stage focused on per year:

  1. Support young people to set the agenda;
  2. Empower young people to lead change
  3. Co-produce solutions
  4. Develop the quality of services
  5. Capacity-building across Youth Access’ network.

We are working with Youth Access through our Centre for Quality Practice as a learning partner, supporting practitioners from Youth Access member organisations to develop their practice through delivery of three Action Learning Sets. We will continue to work with Youth Access as a learning partner as we move into the final year of delivery for the programme, working with Youth Access to focus on capacity-building across Youth Access’ network.

We are also working with Youth Access through our Centre for Youth Voice, supporting them to involve young people in the Our Minds, Our Future evaluation and final report, which will be published in late 2024. The goal will be to ensure that young people are given the opportunity to learn from being involved in the evaluation process, whilst also having opportunities to influence and inform the evaluation process and the final report.
