#iwill Evidence and Insights Collective

The renewed #iwill Evidence and Insights Collective will bring together young people and organisations that represent the spectrum of youth social action under the banner of the #iwill movement. It will be a space to co-create actionable insights from the #iwill movement to support young people to engage in youth social action and feel empowered to make change.

About the Collective

As part of their role in the #iwill Coordination Hub, UK Youth has commissioned the redesign of the #iwill Evidence and Insights Collective. This is a response to the challenge the #iwill campaign has experienced in coordinating the production and dissemination of insights across the #iwill sector groups. It is also acknowledges the importance of ensuring the Collective meets the needs of #iwill as it as transitions from a Campaign to a Movement.

The process of renewing the Collective

The College are leading this piece of work on behalf of the Coordination Hub. Between May and July 2022 we worked with a group of four #iwill Ambassadors to redesign the Collective. A new Terms of Reference for the group has been developed, capturing:

  • Their mission and purpose
  • Membership
  • Governance of the Collective
  • How the group with function

The redesign process also included a consultation with longstanding EIC members to feedback on the #iwill Ambassadors ideas and identify any potential risks or issues with their approach.

You can review the Terms of Reference here. This Terms of Reference will go through a final process of review with the #will Ambassador Youth Leadership Network in August before final agreement by the newly appointed governance group for the Collective in September.

The renewed Evidence and Insights Collective will be led by young people, with #iwill Ambassadors and Champions appointed to fulfil the roles of Chair and a core support group. The Chair will be supported by an adult Deputy Chair. Membership will include and adult and young person from organisations representing the breadth of youth social action in the #iwill movement as well as representatives from research and policy institutions.

The purpose of the Collective is to draw together learning from within and across the movement. It will be a space to co-create actionable insights from the #iwill movement to support young people to engage in youth social action and to feel empowered to make change.

The College will be acting as the Secretariat for the Evidence and Insights Collective moving forward. The Collective will meet three times per year, and each meeting will result in an output to support the dissemination of learning across the #iwill movement. The College will lead on the development of these outputs, with support from the Chair and core support group.
